I just got back from D.C. and what an incredible place. It made me realize I should never, ever take for granted what I have, we have. The war memorials were so haunting. If you ever get a chance to go there, take it.

BTW, one of the tour guides was touting Rolling Thunder..vividly...nice to hear something positive about people who ride.

Hey T!! First time I went was 3 yrs ago when my b/f took me. I was amazed like you are. I went back this May for the Rolling Thunder. It was even more beautiful! Rolling Thunder was one of the most emotional events I have ever participated in. Just as they were doing the "fly by", my son who is in the Army called me on my cell. It literally brought chills to my body! I could not believe the crowds of people cheering for "bikers" and the Vets.
I am glad you had a great time T  more...

The Korean Memorial is almost haunting. I will never forget the overwhelming feeling I had when I first saw it.

My favorite memory was seeing Fire Flies for the first time. I wish we had them here.

Went to washington when I went to NY New Year city vacation trip 2001/2.

Yes. really impressive. Very different from having come straight from NY. Loads of open space and buildings kept low except for state buildings. Walked the whole way from Lincoln Memorial to Congress. saw it all including war memorial. Took some time for them to get round to putting one up for Vietnam.

Saw White House. Thought it was cute and quaint. Expected something the size of Buck House. Quite small actually.

No one ever expects what they find there, history so tangible that you feel the presence of those who made that history, and what they felt at the time. The energy emanates from every building, and place.
Its good to hear from you, dont be a stranger..
