Riding the internet carefully!

OK, no names here coz that could be regarded as slanderous...
While you have to take people you contact via here or other websites at face value, it's always worth keeping your wits about you like when your out on the road! Most of the people I have met on here have been really sound people and looking forward to riding with some of them in the future! :)
But (and isn't there always a 'but'...) one person contacted me and seemed over the course of a few emails to be genuinely friendly but somehow something was just 'not right'...maybe it was the tone of the emails, or the language used; it's hard to put my finger on it but it just felt wrong. Then suddenly, I got an email claiming that this person was in desperate circumstances and asking me for cash.
Needless to say, that was the end of that particular correspondence! Now, maybe I'm just a suspicious and hard-hearted git (my learners at work might agree with that last bit, I think!) but I would say to people *do* be careful! There are some people even here that are trying to scam you - t'internet can be a bad place sometimes, for the unwary! :)
Ride safe - and be safe here too!
